Why do I need a crown?

In order to help keep the tooth strong for biting and chewing, a crown is sometimes placed on a tooth that needs to be restored, such as after root canal or in order to protect a weak or discolored tooth. Crowns can also be used to help secure a dental bridge.

Common CDT codes for Crowns:

  • [2740] Crown - porcelain/ceramic substrate
  • [2750] Crown - porcelain fused to high noble metal
  • [2751] Crown - porcelain fused to predominantly base metal
  • [2790] Crown - full cast high noble metal
  • [2792] Crown - full cast noble metal
  • [2920] Re-cement or re-bond crown
  • [2930] Crown - Prefabricated stainless steel - primary tooth
